Great pictures. Discovery Channel has me hooked with the recent "When We Left Earth" series of documentaries. The late 60s had to be a phenomenal time to be an American. I can't even imagine what it was like to watch the first moon landing live on TV.
In this day and age, we're so spoiled that we poo-poo an MP3 player that can't hold more than 40,000 songs...

Wondering what NSANY means???
LOL... I did watch it. I was also at the cape when Apollo 15 launched. There is no way to describe the launch of a Saturn V. It literally sucks the breath right out of you. You feel it in every organ in your body. Incredible.
I used to fly with Eileen Collins (I was a flight evaluator at the time) -- first female shuttle pilot, first female shuttle commander, and commanded the return to flight mission after Columbia. She is now retired.
Fantistic set of photos! :)

Tere- Do you have any knowledge about the cameras that are used for these photos. As Kevin pointed out on the G site the images look so vivid they seem surreal.

I think someone turned around the Hubble to take these pictures. ;)

THAT'S FUNNY I DON'T FEEL RICEY!!!
Don't know the type of camera, but the resolution is awesome. The originals have to be even better than what we see on the monitor.
NASA (and the DOD) does have some great cameras -- from space they can pretty much take a photo of a golf ball on Earth and you can see the dimples.

I don't know if it is the same camera used to take the pictures with but I did some reading and they do use a laser camera that is fixed on the end of that large boom that is labeled "Canada". The camera is used to scan the entire shuttle for damage in order to find any damage to the integrity of the hull so it can be repaired in hopes of avoiding another tragedy.
