We finished the Injen CAI today!!! It was well worth it! All the dirt in the eyes, dirt in the nails, blood on the hands and nails up the :moon:, we did it!
The entire install took 4hrs. We did not have to take off the bumper or wheel well. Yea! With little hands it can be done!!! ;)
Today was the most beautiful day!
We did some fabrication to the styrofome, we cut out a chunk of it so the intake filter could fit and then had to cut it and put it back in to protect the intake filter from water exposure.
All in all my partner in crime (Jennifer in the picture) and I had a great time. Did I mention we are both GIRLS??? YES GIRLS ARE VERY CAPABLE OF MODIFYING CARS!!! :yeah:
Thanks Joe and Rick for the encouragement!!! :headbang:

Looks good! Be careful of your MAF sticking straight up like that. I had mine that way and it was poking a small indention in the hood insulation.
We (me and Rugs) turned it 180 degrees and put it on the bottom.
Hood up at the next meeting! :toast:

Way to go! :yeah: :yeah: :yeah: :yeah:   :winner:
It's amazing you didn't have to remove the Bumper or Inner Fender....Like you said, must be the small hands...
when you say you put the foam back in front of the filter to protect it from water damage. I hope you didn't block off too much incoming air. That's partially how the cold air intake works. Being exposed to cool incoming air, kinda like a Ram-Air effect. It's probably fine...
I'll be sure to check it out at the meet...Nice Work...

OH Chops, we did notice that before we shut the hood. The thing is, if you look at the diagram pictures it shows it like that. We loosened it and turned it 45degrees to the left. So its clear now. Good eyes Chops. Yes siree! HOODS UP!!! :biggthum:

Yea I had a scary moment there thinking about hydrolocking. That's why we put the styrofoam in front of it. It can be removed tho. It would be hard. I think its cool, b/c the cover underneath protects it from big splash ups.

Be prepared for Inspection Finals by the MOD GODS at the next meet. You will be graded.

Thanks Jazz! I can feel some difference, the sound diffrence is incredible. At 5k rpms the thing screams!!! Best $250 I've spent. I found it a few dollars cheaper but I ordered it from my guy and he got it to me in two days versus a week. Oh I know the mod gods will be inspecting my work. I hope I get an A+.

One thing to be careful about when working on your engine ( I noticed you friend leaning over the side), Make sure that you are not wearing a belt. I know someone who scratched the :flame: out of their car doing that. They sell mechanics mats for protection also.

For everyone who doesn't know me I'm cicklet's partner in crime. Well I was wearing sweat pants while working on the car so no need to worry about belts scratching the paint. Also, britt actually did about half the work so I can't take credit for it all. Yes it was a success and I know she is happy to have it installed and I was just gald to not have to remove the bumper or the wheel well to get it in. Also it was a pleasure to work on the G because all I have ever worked on are honda, mitsubishi, and toyota. Well I look forward to meeting all of you on the 21st.

Sorry JD, where are my manners? Welcome to the site. I guess since I know you I kinda welcomed you in person, hey that's better than posting the welcome right?
Britt-I've negleted to tell you (all) the real reason that I cannot make it to the strip. I have requirements of one of my classes to attend four music concerts. Between the Nov. meet and Thanksgiving I have to attend 4 concerts before the semester is over. These concerts are part of my grade. Trust me, I want to be there. From what I heard, I think the turn out at Gilly's is going to be good. I'm sorry. The CAI and I are waiting to meet you at Gilly's. Jennifer (JD) will be there with me.

Okay so here are the updated tpictures of the CAI. We did notice that the Mass Airflow Sensor was sticking up and wouldn't clear the hood before we shut it. Please read this if you plan to install an Injen CAI, rotate the stock pipe for the MAFS to the left so that it does not touch the hood. Awe the best thing I've done yet the G. Well, the only real mod.

Hey chicklet you may want to keep an eye on your a/c line. There have been several people with aftermarket intakes that have rubbed tiny holes in their a/c line. I used a zip-tie to hold mine away from the CAI. I hear it can be expensive to get it replaced.

I test drove a Z before the G... I like that I can fit more in the G, ride isn't as rough(arguable factor to those preferring the stiff side), bang for the buck was a good factor too.

I researched over and over. I knew I wanted a powerful rwd car, 2dr.
I preferred a 6spd, HIDs, and nice brakes. So, it was either a G or Z.

If your talking about body kits maybe. but all of the performance stuff they have for the Z we have for the G.
And trust me Jen, after you take a ride in a Z on a highway, you might not want one. It wasn't that it was a stiff ride but it sure was a bouncy ride, if you know what I mean. :boing:

I don't remember if it was stiff or what, but it wasn't fun at around 45. I was at Barrett Parkway and the guy really thought I was ready to buy I guess, so he wanted to take it out. I got on one of the back streets there and I was shocked about how it felt like it was bucking. I looked down and I was going 45.
Zs are still great cars and I may own one as a weekend car down the road, but for a daily driver, the G is me.

VS 'what do you drive" OH, well I drive an INFINITI G35...OH WOW REALLY?!?!? Would you like to do me now or wait till we get home?!?! :rocking: HA.HA..HA.. As fars as mods, I've pretty much seen the same mods G except for the strut brace that I don't think it's avail. yet unless I'm behind on that one. Another big plus...you have 2 rear seats which people can actually use if you need to carry an extra two passengers. Damn with all this...I should be working for infiniti selling da G's...lol

Aiight I see how it is, but i do understand about the whole letting other people drive thing.
I'll let you sit in the drivers seat and play with the seat controls that will let you raise it so you can see over the dash. hahaha
I'd offer you a ride but some people would probably advise against it. I guess I'm a little scary.
Now that I think about it, infiniti does have much better service than nissan. Do they give loaners at Nissan dealerships? My vote is for the G now

Three years ago I was riding with my friend in her vette and she flipped the car six times. She was ejected from the car but I remained in the passengers seat with my frosty in between my legs still in the cup when the car stopped flipping. She had a couple of broken bones and all i had a few scratches and some bruises. Thats why I don't trust people to drive me. One bad experience did for me!!

sorry to hear about the accident jen.
Does anyone know if the 10000K HID's are legal, I've had one too many tickets so I just want to check before putting them the car. i have a set of them and absolutely love them. the color is awesome and you stand out from everyone else. i have not had a problem with mine and have had cops sitting right next to me and they didnt say anything. also had one give me the thumbs up the other day. a friend of mine that has a set, said that he hasnt had any problems with them from the police.
as for the legality of them i do not know. they work for me and i like them. you could just say they are oem and it came that way. the car is made in japan.
let me know if you would like a set cause i can get them for you.

THat sounds good cause I think the ones I've been lookin at are not going to be what I thought. Can you post a picture of them so I can see the color, pleez. $165 sounds better than $250. How long have you had them? Thanks!

Are they just bulbs? I was under the impression that you had to have a ballast for HID bulbs?

Also I know some HID kits have both high and low beams and cost a fortune. Do you have both? Or is it just a low beam.

Some of them you have to change and some you don't have to. At least that's what I've heard. I just know my light set up is driving me crazy. I have the white PIAA leds and they are blue and beautiful, the HIDs are just white, the strip lights are yellow, the highbeams are yellow, the fog beams are yellow. Does anyone else feel my pain. Try to imagine that. It looks really weird. Can I just unhook/yank the bulb the strip light while I wait for Rugs to complete his Genius LED strip light mod??? Oh and I want to white out the blinker too. No more orange, tired of it.

Thanks!i will try and posts some pictures when i get home today. altough you do have to keep in mind that they are goin to appear much more blue in the picture than they actually do on the road. why that happens i dont know, but what i do know is that they look awesome.

they are just bulbs. and they are clear bulb they are not painted blue to obtain the color like some bulbs are. you do not have to change the blast either.

no these are just the low beams. to get by stage bulbs would cost a lot and would require you to change the balast, or atleast add another one.
Some of them you have to change and some you don't have to. At least that's what I've heard. I just know my light set up is driving me crazy.i know what you mean there the stock light setup was the first thing that i changed.
I have the white PIAA leds and they are blue and beautiful, the HIDs are just white, the strip lights are yellow, the highbeams are yellow, the fog beams are yellow. i have the piaa white white leds in both my clearance strip and clear corners. i must say they do a good job of matching the stock setup but with these 10k K's they need to be changed again. where do you have your white leds? as for my fog light i have the piaa extreme white h4 bulbs and they also matched up pretty close to the stock ones, but hte mtec's match up better. with the ne 10k K's though i cant even turn those on anymore cause they now look completely yellow like it was stock again. the only way to get them to match would be to get another set of the 10k K's and another balast and convert the fog/high's to a HID setup.
Does anyone else feel my pain. Try to imagine that. It looks really weird. i feel your pain. i now have to change my setup again. now fun. try to imagine it i dont have to try i can go outside turn on my lights and fogs and see it for myself.
Can I just unhook/yank the bulb the strip light while I wait for Rugs to complete his Genius LED strip light mod??? all i can say is try it. why dont you just get another set of your white leds and put them in there.
Oh and I want to white out the blinker too. No more orange, tired of it.you and me both.

Thanks SFLG35! Yeah I'll pick up some PIAA LEDs for hte clearance for now. I guess I didn't want to buy any now b/c I'm waiting to do what Rugs is doing. O well I guess that's a easy solution for now. I can get them overnite. Um, I'm not so worried about the whole fog/highbeam matching with the rest of the lights. Only the headlight, sidemarkers, strip light and blinker matters to me. I have H4s from my Land Rover that I can stick into the fog beam. Is the bulb for the sidemarkers the same size as the clearance strip??? If so I can order another set so I can get rid of the icky yellow. :puke:

Sorry Tony, I guess I didn't see your reply to the thread. Oops. Well, I installed the grounding wires today, looks good. Um, I hope to have some more mods done during the meet of the 4th and then some after Christmas.
