from some people I have heard the Borla True Dual exhaust doesnt do anything for performance(they claim 16-20 hp)... that is really hard to believe considering Borla is one of the best and well known exhaust companys out there. Just wanted some insight, do any of you guys have a Borla that would recommend it or not recommend it.

Just because Borla has put together a good branding campaign over the years doesn't necessarily make it the best product.
Borla G35 cat-back review here: http://www.g35frenzy.com/reviews/showproduct.php/product/51/cat/36
In general, a cat back won't do much on the dyno, but Stillen is supposed to be the best performance bang for the buck.
I hear the biggest gain in the exhaust system would be from headers, as the stock collectors are about the size of a quarter.

When I bought my car i took it to the dealer to have it looked over. I found out that the guy before me had a borla put on the car at the dealership and came back a week later and had it removed and a stillen put on so he ditched the borla for some reason. i am happy with my stillen especially since I put test pipes on.

+1 to what people above me said.... Just because it's have a good brand name, it doesn't mean it always the best.... for example, you would also lost around 5 hp with 5zigen exhaust

what the guy is tryin 2 say is.. big name = bigger reputaion...so people put there trust in them for the best product...5 zigen isnt really a exhuast company..borla is all exhuast systems...i would only expect the ebst from them...im thinking of swqtiching off to get the borla...

im sure borla makes good exhaust systems, just not for our car. if you want something quieter than stock then id recommend it. otherwise, the gains are minimal if any and the exhaust system has more pieces than usual. this gives it a higher chance for leaks. but like i always say, exhausts are subject so buy what you like to hear.

+1, I agree with this one....exhaust is just exhaust unless you plan to go betond exhaust

I have the Borla on my 03 coupe. I love this exhaust because at idle you really can't tell a difference in sound. When you hit the gas, it opens up like a bat out of hell with a megaphone. I'm 37 years old and don't really care for the noise that Stillen produces. If it is just sound you're looking for then I would suggest Stillen.

I think Borla makes much better exhaust systems for Corvettes and Trans Ams.....they are owned by GM.
For the G, I don't think it is much of a performance upgrade, but it does sound pretty nice. I'm not a fan of the clamped together design.

If you think the Stillen is loud, then you haven't heard the Greddy or Injen exhausts, especially with test pipes.

I have the Borla w/ Kinetix HFCs...not raspy at all, just a nice performance sound in the upper RPMs.
The biggest issue I have with it is the number of pieces it comes in & how much of a PITA it is to get things lined up & sealed properly.
Adding cats/headers later? Everything will need to be re-aligned.
Bottom out? Might have to do it then, too.
Borla's BOM is twice as long as the other systems out there.
