Congrats on the new mod.

How easy is it to install? Are there directions with unit? What tools are required? Any reccomendations?

I ordered one and it is being delivered today. It sucks waiting here at work knowing that the POP is at the house. Oh well... 5:00 and I'm outta here (althought I do feel a slight tickle in my throat. Maybe I'll have to go home early due to a cough)

Thanks,
Brian

Hi Brian....It's very easy to install...takes about an hour ...the only hard part is the 2 small screws in the snorkel...U need a VERY SHORT screwdriver to get there...drilling out the holes is kinda crowded also....anyhow it looks great and u can really hear the air rushing into the motor when u get on it...It comes with complete instructions....Enjoy...Dawg...

I wouldn't worry about the two screws, their a PITA. I never screwed it in and it's been fine without them.

Looks good, and believe me, you want to follow instructions, haha....

I found the hardest part was getting the stock box out...I was trying to be careful, and wasnt tugging very hard on it, was trying to shake it out, finally after about 10 minutes, I got pissed, and PULLED it out!

On the 2 screws, I didnt have a drill, or screwdriver short enough, I took a very sharp knife, and put it on the inside of the duct where I wanted the hole, and started twisting and pushing...got halfway, and then did the same thing on the outside of the duct. Two holes, easy..haha

I re-oiled mine with K&N and its red now, I like it better, blue was a little bright for me, and I had some K&N left over from my VR-4's intake...GL with the install, you will love the sound, and when you shift and hit the gas quick, it makes a nice "BOV" sound...later!

sweet. Thanks for the info. For the drill wise... How big of a hole are we talking here? Just for a screw to fit through? I am going to borrow a drill from work. And what length screwdriver (phillipshead or flathead?). Thanks again for all the info.

Follow the instructions and the whole process will take 40 mins

If you don't "NEED" the two snorkel screws you might as well say you dont need the bracket arm

Follow the instructions, use what's provided, and it will perform as it should, also you know yourself that you didnt take any shortcuts.

As for the little screws, use a tiny pocket knife and make two small holes..the threads of the screws will do the rest.

Yeah, like atar350 said, you gotta love the "BOV" , haha :)

Btw, you guys also notice a little hissing noise when you mash on the gas?? or is it just me? <shrug>

I kinda agree with ya...While it is a PITA ....I feel better doing it as per instructions....I was thinking about using a nut/bolt there actually...still might do that....anyhow...it's a cool mod...enjoy....Dawg

Well she is installed!!!
Sounds great. Has a little hiss at the beginning of the "petal to the metal", and the engin is a nice loud deep tone. The little screws were a PITA, but I got them mostly in. I took your advise of using a knife to punch the hole and then use the screw. Tomorrow I'm gonna get a REALLY short screwdriver to completely get them in.
Thanks for all the help and can't wait for the next mod!!! (Probably Borla Tru Dual)

Sweet.
There are quite a few Atlanta Z's on this forum. Are you going to the Dragon?

I live in Smyrna. (at least till my lease is up and I can move closer to work [Stone Mountain area])

No, I'm not going. I might eventually ride with someone..but not this time.

Yeah, I see a lot of Zs around atlanta...unfortunetely, not all of them are online member freaks like us :D

I'd wave at people, and they'd look at me funy...

It wasnt like that with my vr4, 3000GT platform, everyone knew eachother in ATL.

Anywho, You'll like living in stone mountain or the Gwinnett area once you move, dont have to fight that traffic on the way home :)

Enjoy the Z. Got any pics btw? What trim did you get?
Where did you get it from? Any immediate plans besides the JWT and the Borla?

There are a lot of Z's out there and whenever I do pass one on the road, I'll flash and wave. I found you have to get their attention first. ;) Or if the car is parked, I'll put a "spot card" on their car saying nice Z. Maybe then they will go to this site and become an avid member.

I'll post some pics later today after work. After I got finished installing it was too dark to take good pics. I purchased it from Z1 Motorsports. They did a good job with everything, other than they were out of stock, so I had to wait till it came in from JWT (but they kept me informed about it).

No more mods on the list for the near future. Gotta get another set of tires before the next mod (fronts are beginning to get low on tread. Cant wait to replace them with Michelin's).

When are you gonna add some stuff to yours? I kept mine stock for 2 years. Do you autocross?

Well, back to work... Have a good one and happy driving.

Oh, I thought you just got it. I've been a Z owner for 2 1/2 months now :)

Right now I'm torn between fixing up my vr4 or modding my 350z. Ideally, I'd like to mod both but my wallet isnt THAT fat. So, no future plans for the Z except for some overlays possibly.

No, I don't autocross..I just take it to the drag stripe. I usually go th Commerce every other friday but might make it down to Reynolds some time soon.

Have you taken yours to the stripe? Any time slip? I did a 14.5x stock with full psi on the stock tires which have 18,xxx miles on them and with VDC on.

I'm hoping I can drop down to low 14s with my new launch technique, thanks Atar350 , my JWT popcharger, and possibly lower the rear tires about 5psi each and VDC off.

We'll see :)

This is funny, I was just looking around online at Nismo Intakes and saw the JWT popcharger and read a bunch of reviews. So, I came here to post the question of whether it's any good and there's already a post right here talking about how awesome it is. So...I'm ordering mine right now, haha. Can't wait!

I was looking at the pop charger on there web site and was wondering if it came with all the neccesary parts to install with? any help would be appreciated

The POP charger does not come with all the parts needed to install. You will need a VERY SHORT phillips head screwdriver, and a 10mm wrench, 10mm ratchet and drill/knife/hole punch. The install is fairly easy and took me about 1-1/2 (I never installed anything except the grounding kit before). All in all the POP charger is a very nice mod visually and performance-wise (extremely nice mod for the $$$). Enjoy.

looking at the grounding kits are they hard to install? are they worth it?

The grounding kits are VERY easy to install and are worth it. From different posts and such, you get ~5 hp from them, but the major difference is that it idles smoother, and with the POP charger I feel that anything to help the engine the better. All that is needed for install is a 10mm wrench and 10mm ratchet. Hope this helped
