Hey Atlanta: stay away from Town Center Nissan. Those who saw my tires at the Aug. 3 ride know the feathering got me. With 8000 miles, I took it to TC. The guy convinced me the new "fix" was to dismount the tires, turn them to the other wheels and remount them! And only for $50!!! I thought it was like rotating new tires and did it (stupid girl).

I went to Team Nissan in Marietta and asked them to take a look. You can actually see the waves in the tread now that they are on the opposite wheels. The guys there immediately put in a work order for re-alignment and new tires.

I went back to Town Center and asked to see a copy of the "fix" they charged me for. SURPRISE! No one could produce anything written, but they won't give me my $50 back. I'm calling Nissan first thing Monday morning. Any advice from the pros on this board?

Thanks! PS--I'm putting a screen in my grill (well, the Marietta Nissan place is). :)

The fix you describe is actually a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that Nissan has come out with. It is therefore considered warranty work and should not cost you a dime!

Go back and explain that what they did is a TSB and should be no charge. Tell them that this is the number of the TSB: Ntb03006

If that still doesn't get your money back, I would call Nissan and let them know about this dealer who is charging for warranty work.

Did they dismount the tires and remount them when they switched them? If not, the directional tread will probably at the very least wear a bit abnormally and may be on the noisy side.

If they did the dismount/remount TSB work, then that's normal -- but they should NOT have charged you. That's warranty work!

Thank you wise Yoda for the TSB#! I will head over there right after school on Monday. They did mount and dismount and turn the wheel so it's rotating the right way. My car is at the Marietta dealer now and it will get new tennis shoes on Monday.

Thanks!

Why say don't rotate? It makes good sense normally, so I'm curious why you advise against it.

Doesn't work. They should align the front, and give her new tires for FREE!!It's like the clevis pin swap for a faulty transmission it doesn't work. Get a new tranny

Well, getting new tires "doesn't work" either. It only delays it happening again to the new tires. That's what the TSB does. It delays the inevitable. Granted, I would want the new tires too, but they won't give them to you until they do the swap first (unless the tires are so bad that it becomes a safety issue).

Thank you everyone. I knew I could get some information on who, what, where to call and what to say. I have a lot of stuff now and I am making the first call to the Secretary of State's office. My work order was written up as if I requested a tire swap. I went in complaining about BRAKE NOISE at 30mph to 0! Told them it was going boom, boom, boom, boom as it stopped! Does that sound like I know anything about car tech????

You guys put me onto the feathering problem in Helen and now you have given me enough stuff to get my pride and $50! I am calling Nissan, and depending on if it's easy to get the money back (and an apology) I may look in to pressing charges for fraudulent charges on warranty work to protect other unknowing victims. I'm **** on 17" wheels, a woman with a brain and temper.

I am echoing Shiro's post of calling the NNA if they give you the 50 dollars back or not. Warranty work/TSB are freebies. And raise a stink about it to.You spent 30+ grand on a new car and for a dealer to try to rip you off is crazy. I have been to Union City Nissan so much that the sales staff, the sales manager and my service rep know me by first name. And they know that I dont play when it comes to my Z. Put it to them.

The call went in this morning to NNA. I gave a copy of the original sales ticket to the guys at Team Nissan. They really are like a team because the manager called Town Center and asked them what the **** they were trying to pull. :bonkers:
He is going to send the original ticket to NNA (or wherever) when he sends in the work he did on my car. I've got new tires and alignment thanks to Team Nissan on Hwy 41.

I am waiting for the response from NNA, will keep you guys posted!

NNA is sending me a check for my work done at Town Center. The jerk manager at Town Center refused to cough up the refund. I hope my $50 is worth more to him than the years of tune-ups and oil changes that he could have poached me for! From now on, I go to Team Nissan on Hwy. 41.

Be sure to layeth the smacketh down on Town Center when you get your customer satisfaction survey. As much as people may not believe this, NNA takes those surveys seriously. Give 'em ****...

They do take the surveys seriously. I have had to give less than excellent and accidently released my name. Low and behold, the dealership called me to ask about it. They do lose money if they get anything other than excellents so they do take notice.
