At long last, we now have all the information for our next event at
Talladega Gran Prix Raceway on 5/11. Please note that this will be our
points event #4. It will be hosted as an Atlanta Region event, with the run
and work order designated for points event #4. We will keep on our time
schedule as if we were on Eastern time even though Alabama is one hour back.
This is due to the fact that a "quite period" begins at 5pm, and therefore
we must be done running entirely by 5pm. Track information (including
address to Mapquest out directions) can be found at http://www.tgprace.com
Here are the important details to note which differ from our regular events:
1) No novices classes will be run, and no novices may register - this is to
help keep the event running on schedule, and to minimize the possibility of
safety incidents given the higher speeds associated with this event.
2) There will be no Time Only runs. Everyone must run in a class. If we
finish before 5pm, there will be fun runs for $2 per run.
3) Entry costs are $25 for members, $30 for non-members. We are STRONGLY
encouraging all entrants to preregister for the event. Roby will be sending
out a registration email soon with links to our online event registration.
We need to be able to plan for our entrants, so please make every effort to
register online before the event. This will save you lots of time at the
event (you simply need to pay after you arrive) as there will only be one
computer setup to register on site. On-site entry will carry a $5 penalty.
4) You need to bring your own food and water to the track. There are no
restaurants nearby, so be sure to pack a cooler.
Please email me with any questions at apexlater@hotmail.com I look forward
to seeing you all in Talladega!
