A user in another forum posted that their dealer advised that a chip supplier was causing delays. I was told this same info from an NNA employee over a week ago. I didn't post anything at that time, because it was just another rumour in my mind, and I didn't see a need to panic anyone. With a second source now saying the same thing, I think it is more than a rumour, BUT, I still don't see a need to panic. This delay could already be reflected in the dates people have received. Or, this delay could be part of the reason why many of us have not received our order numbers yet.

Here is part of what I was told in an email from NNA:

We have word that one of our suppliers, Hatachi is behind in supplying a critical ECU chip. This is slowing overall production, but these kinds of delays are typical of a start-up new build. I wouldn't put much faith in ETA's that your friends are telling you, since they probably don't know this info.

I'm pretty sure that "Hatachi" is "Hitachi".

Update.

I met with a Nissan Engineer who is working on the 350Z program. He actually just recently got back from Oppama, watching the assembly process. He has not heard of an ECU delivery issue. If he had, he would've told me. He isn't the type of person to hide something from an interested party.

He said he will look into it further on Monday, and let me know.

Interesting, I had heard that the had pushed back the schedule based on quality control in late June.

So would this delay be in addition to the delay had already heard about?
