what is the cut-off build date for an '04 ECU? (meaning, when did they start puttin' the '04 ECU's in?) and where can you find your build date?

There is an approximate date for the change. You will need to have your ecu in hand to know for sure, unless you are early into 04. You can call Danny or Tadishi, (probably didn't spell his name correctly) at Technosquare and they can tell you based on the part number on the ECU.

Would an '05 ECU work in an 03 or 04? Would you want the extra HP in exchange for the torque?

Anyone thought of this yet?

as far as i know, ECU's are car specific, meaning you can't interchange them between cars. this has more to do with the vehicle immobilizer system than anything else.

Anyone know what the TS ECU actually gains?

i have no idea what the gains are. all they say is that there are some but dont give specific numbers. no you can not switch ecus out. if you do your car will not work. the immobilizer system will not allow it

That was my first thought when I heard the 05 was going to have more power but there are other things that they did to the engine to get the additional power.

variable exhaust and intake cams instead of just intake. And also some changes to the intake/plenum. They should be at the dealership within the next 2 weeks so we'll see soon enough

So you're saying that we can have 298hp and Brembers?!
I think if the price is right, I may do that.

sad to say...no the variable exhaust cams will probably prevent us from being able to just get a reflash

as far as i know, the TS reflash for the '04's are worthless. they're still trying to "crack the code" so to speak. check out this thread from my350z.com (http://www.my350z.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=104601) seems like the '04's have to wait a bit.
